On May 14, 2026, The Center on Representative Government, in partnership with the Indiana Council for the Social Studies, invites Indiana educators to an immersive one-day professional development workshop on the IU Bloomington campus.
Led by Dr. Elizabeth R. Osborn, this exclusive session offers a deep dive into the Declaration of Independence, highlighted by a special guided tour of the Lilly Library to view the historic document firsthand.
Participants will collaborate to connect founding principles with current curriculum standards, utilizing CORG’s Engaging Congress digital tool to develop dynamic, classroom-ready lesson plans.
When: Thursday, May 14, 2026 (8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.)
Where: Indiana University Bloomington
Cost: Free
Included: $100 honorarium, parking, lunch at the Tudor Room, visit to Lilly Library to see Declaration of Independence, and the Eskenazi Museum of Art to see a Gilbert Stuart portrait of George Washington.
Participants will receive $100 to offset costs related to their attendance at the workshop and an additional $100 upon submission and approval of a completed lesson plan.
