CitizIN is an interactive game that explores themes in American history from the early 1800s to the 21st century with an emphasis on primary sources from Indiana. The emphasis on sources from a specific state demonstrates how individual states fit into the nation’s story and the commonalities of our history. Each of the six eras covered include a brief content video, mini game, and analysis of primary sources to build critical thinking skills. The mini games allow students to take on the role of citizen, soldier, reporter, business owner, and elected official.
Engaging Congress is an interactive game that uses primary sources to lead students in an exploration of the basic principles of representative government and the challenges they face today. There are five separate thematic modules covering federalism and states’ rights, the federal budget, influencing the political process, separation of powers, and voting rights. Engaging Congress builds students critical thinking skills while improving their knowledge about how the American system works and its relevance to their lives as citizens and residents.
